I love to write

…that’s at least what I keep telling people. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy it and I would love to make a career out of it—it’s just that sometimes I doubt my abilities. A blank page can be very intimidating. How does one become a great writer? Is it a natural talent, or “God-given” if you will. Or is it something one can aspire to become.

I’ve been told that to be a great writer you have to read great writers. So for the past few weeks I’ve been rereading some of my favorite books. But the more I keep reading the Americana greats, the more disheartened I become. The feeling is similar to what I said before about blank pages.

I know that I can write great things but the problem is: what should I write about? I admire all the journalists and documentarians and I would love to pursue a career in the field. I just know that I can be a great writer.

I will not give up.

A model citizen

I graduated yesterday. Please, hold your applause until after I’ve figured out what I’m going to do with my life.

There are two things that I know: one, I like to write. Two, If I work at my current job (which shall remain nameless…but it is a certain cell phone company that is popular for having iPhones and shitty service) then I’m 99% sure that I’m going to eat a bullet.

So what do I do now? Should I pursue a career in something that I know will provide tons of cash so that I can live “well off,” or should I pursue a career that I actually will enjoy. I’m more partial to the latter. I’d like to be part of the small portion of the american workforce that doesn’t hate themselves when they get up every morning and drive to work.

Frankly, the thought of not knowing what I will do with my life scares the hell out of me. I guess until I do find out what I want to do I will have to just sell cell phones, vote, and maintain my disguise as a model citizen. /end

So…blogs, huh?

It has recently come to my attention that blogs are the new cigarettes. They’re addictive and bad for your health, but they also make you look so damn cool—well, maybe they aren’t bad for your health. Actually, if you count carpal tunnel syndrome or maybe some form of eye cancer you may get as a result of staring at your computer screen for hours then they could be considered unhealthy. But then again, if you’re like me and you’re posting from an iPhone, then you can’t get carpal tunnel or cancer, because everyone knows that an apple product a day keeps the cancer at bay…or something like that.

But I digress.

For the sake of my analogy I’m going to stick to my cyber-guns and say that blogs are unhealthy, like cigarettes are unhealthy. Yep. Blogs are like cigarettes. /end
